The Met Gala has always been a chance for celebrities to be as daring as they want with their fashion choices.
And, this year, the biggest fashion statements were the boots dubbed pantashoes, designed by Balenciaga.
Actress Salma Hayek was the first star to be spotted wearing pantashoes when she was seen flashing what at first looked like bright blue leggings or tights underneath her dress, which was split to the thigh.
On closer inspection, it was found she was wearing the boot-trouser hybrid by the switch designer, which cost £1,795 per pair. Supermodel Lily Aldrige was then seen in an identical pair, except that she opted for red underneath her Ralph Lauren dress.
Making a comeback
The boots were first seen in the Spring Summer 2017 fashion shows in Paris, but have made a seasonal comeback on the catwalks showcasing trends for the Autumn Winter 2018 season.
Blogger Patricia Manfield has been one of the trend’s biggest advocates, seen numerous times in shorter versions, costing £885. Reality star Kim Kardashian and singer Rihanna are also big fans.
The boots, which are inspired by 1980s fashion, come in a variety of bright colours. They are said to flatter by making the legs look longer.
