Ed Sheeran speculates that he probably will not be returning to Game of Thrones next season after his appearance did not sit well with viewers.
His Reappearance on the Show
Ed Sheeran has said that he does not think his character will be returning to Game of Thrones next season after viewers did not respond well to his appearance this season. He said he thinks his character might be dead.
“We were all quite young, those soldiers. I doubt I’m going to survive for that long, to be honest, when there are dragons in the world,” he said to MTV News.
He also said that he is not upset about this. He said: “No one wants to see me come back. I wanted to be a cameo in it, and I’ve done the cameo. I’m cool with it, though. I enjoyed it.”
He also said: “My whole thing was like I didn’t want to be in it that long, because… I’m not an actor. I wanted to be in it for 30 seconds or whatever. Which, I kinda was. So, happy days.”
Sheeran also commented on the fact that he deleted his Twitter account. Although many speculated that it was because of the backlash from GOT viewers about his appearance on the show, Sheeran said that this was not why. He said: “Timing was just a coincidence, but believe what you want.”
How Did He Get the Cameo?
How Sheeran got his cameo on the show was revealed during the “behind-the-scenes” look at his scene. It was apparently all because of Maisie Williams, the actress who plays “Arya Stark.”
David Benioff, the show’s co-creator, said: “Ed Sheeran’s got a beautiful voice and we knew he was a fan of the show. We knew that Maisie was obsessed with him, so we always thought it would be fun to try to get him into a Maisie scene at some point.”
